Swinging Sunday at the airport


Düsseldorf is a major city with lots of attractions. A special musical highlight in the city’s events calendar is the Jazz Rally. On the Whit weekend (21 to 23 May), music and jazz fans can look forward to more than 70 concerts on 30 stages, a programme distinguished by the range of artists and promising a delightful musical experience.

On Whit Sunday the Jazz Rally is being held in the airport terminal. ‘Enjoy brunch, shopping and jazz highlights’ is the motto of the ‘Swinging Sunday’ on 23 May. From 11.00 am till 6.00 pm Düsseldorf International will be offering you a musical mix to capture every mood.

Volle Kanne
Marching: from ‘I Feel Good’ to ‘Just a Gigolo’, from Original Dixieland with banjo and washboard to soul, Blues Brothers, Beatles, Police and NDW with drums and electric guitar. Their golden voices will make you forget Louis Prima and Sting, the electric guitar will yowl and the drums will groove. This is music to get you dancing, laughing and singing along.
2.00 pm till 4.00 pm
Jörg Hegemann – Boogie Woogie Piano
Playing with Jörg Hegemann at the Düsseldorf Jazz Rally is a specialist and master of Boogie Woogie. He brings back to life ‘the hottest music ever invented for the piano’ and takes his audience back to the music of Chicago of the 1930s.
3.30 pm till 6.00 pm
The Happy Gangstas

Polka, jazz, Cha Cha Cha: a gripping rendering of popular music of the past, present and future. Jazz improvisations add extra spice to catchy tunes from all four corners of the globe. ‘La Paloma’ resounds with all the wanderlust of this world, Balkan rhythms merge with trumpet capriccios, American evergreens are transformed into captivating swing.
