We Recommend: Film in Carry On Baggage
Checked baggage undergoes a series of different checks. That means your suitcase can be checked up to three times in different ways. Camera film could be affected through this process. So, take our advice and pack your film in your carry on baggage to prevent it from becoming damaged.
What are you not allowed to pack as carry-on and not as baggage?
The downloadable list provided by the German Federal Ministry of Transport, Building and Housing tells you which objects you may not take on board and which objects are not allowed in your luggage. Should you have any doubts, please contact your airline.
Liquids in Hand Luggage
New EU aviation security regulations since 6. November. Click here for further information.
Info for Divers
Your harpoon does not belong in your carry on baggage.... Diving lamps or lights may only be transported in your carry on baggage. A turned on diving light can generate a lot of heat, so these must be dismantled before being transported. That is either the light bulb must be removed or the power source.
Dangerous Objects/Dangerous Goods
If you have any more questions regarding the transport of "dangerous goods", please contact the Bundesgrenzschutz at telephone: 0211-9518-118. If you would like to take along any so-called "dangerous goods" on your trip, please contact your airline.
It Has to Take so Long
When planning the time you need to go through the airport, please take into consideration, that, depending on the number of departing passengers, long queues form not only at the check-in counter, but also at the security check area. You value feeling safe at the airport and in the air. In order to achieve a reasonable degree of security, the security personnel have to check passengers and baggage with care and thoroughness. This takes time. How much time depends on how many bags and what size of bags passengers decide to carry on with them. Please restrict your carry-on baggage to one piece. Any larger sized trolleys or bags should be submitted at the check-in counter.
Do Not Leave Your Baggage Unattended!
For security reasons, please do not leave your baggage unattended. Should you spot unattended baggage, contact the police or the airport personnel right away.
